Greetings from Your Chamber!
We want to welcome a new member this week. Kelly Services, 1800 Teague Drive,
Ste. 100, Sherman is our newest member. Sheri Detro is the Branch Manager. Their
phone number is 903-893-7777. They are a staffing industry.
Our 2007/2008 Leadership Gainesville Class got off to a great start today. We have
seventeen participants this year. Today is Municipal Government Day. They met at
the Public Safety Facility and will tour other facilities.
We want to thank Peggy Padgham and Mary Gill for the wonderful Chamber
Breakfast mixer at Lake Kiowa last Thursday morning. There were about 50 people
at this mixer. Thank all of you who attended for your participation in Chamber
functions.

Quilter's Paradise-Common Threads Quilt Guild annual quilt show will be October 12
& 13 at the Gainesville Civic Center. Raffle tickets for "Island Fantasy" raffle quilt

Whitesboro's 42nd Annual Peanut Festival Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 am to 5:00
pm downtown Whitesboro. Lots of activates all day. The carnival will be from 10:00

FRANK BUCK ZOO- Community Pumpkin Decorating Party October 26th from 6:00 -7:
30 pm. Jack-O-Lanterns Needed!!!! This will be at the Leonard Park Pavilion. You are
asked to leave your pumpkin to help decorate for Zoo Boo. Pumpkins will be judged
for scariest, funniest, and most creative in both adult and children's categories.
Winners will be awarded free passes to Zoo Boo and all winning pumpkins will be
prominently displayed at the zoo entry.
Zoo Boo- Saturday, October 27 from 6:00 -8:00pm. Festivities begin at 4:00 pm in
Leonard Park with story telling and a costume contest in the Pavilion. Have your
picture taken with an animal ambassador between 4-6pm. Zoo gates open at 6:00 for
trick-or-treating and games in the zoo. Admission is $4 for children and $2 for adults.
The Leonard Park train will be up and running for tours of Sleepy Hollow.
GAINESVILLE VISUAL ARTS ASSOCIATION (GAVA) PRESENTS "The Depot Art
Show" at the Santa Fe Depot October 4th -21st, Wednesday through Sunday, 11:00
am-2:00pm.
CELEBRITY CELEBRATION coming to a theater near you, Saturday, November 10,
2007. See next week's newsletter for more details. All proceeds will benefit the
Cooke County United Way.
The Chamber of Commerce is trying to help the GISD Foundation spread the word
about the Dave Tanner Series which will be held in Gainesville on October 9,
December 18, January 20 and April 8.
We would encourage you to purchase tickets to this concert series which helps
support the GISD Foundation activities.
You may purchase tickets at the GISD Central Admin building located at 800 S.
Morris Street in Gainesville.
The tickets can be bought for each individual performance, however you also save if
you buy the series of 4 in advance. This series of 4 cost $50 for all dates.

Workforce Texoma is gearing up for "Texoma Career Connection". This is an
opportunity fair designed to bring employers and job seekers together. The event is
scheduled for October 25, 2007 at Midway Mall, Sherman, from 10:00 am. to 5:00 pm.

Christmas Parade entry forms will be mailed out today. We will be using the mailing
list from last year's entries. If you want to make sure you get a form, please contact
us. The theme this year is " A Traditional Christmas". So whatever, Christmas means
to you, that is how you decorate your entry. There is no fee to enter. Prizes will be
awarded to different categories. NO LIVE SANTA WILL BE PERMITTED! The
Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce will provide the Santa.
If you have any Christmas events that you want us to include in our Holiday Calendar
of Events, please get the information to us in writing ASAP. We will start distributing
them in November. We will start putting those in the newsletters in November as well.
